Privacy Policy / Terms of Use

1. What Dandelion is

Dandelion is an anonymous photo app. You take a photo in the moment, add a few words, and set it adrift. Other people may receive it, carry it onward with a breath, or let it settle. There are no accounts, no profiles, no followers, and no like counts.

2. What we collect

  • Photos and notes you set adrift. Photos are taken with the in-app camera only — the app has no access to your photo library. A seed travels without your name attached; other people never see who released it.
  • An anonymous identifier. A random ID is generated on your device the first time you open the app. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any account, because none of those exist in Dandelion.
  • Activity on seeds. Which seeds your anonymous ID has received, breathed on, or let settle, and how many seeds you have left to release.
  • Service logs. Our servers (hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States) keep short-lived technical logs of API requests, which can include IP addresses. These are retained for 14 days.
  • Website analytics. This website (not the app) uses Google Analytics.

3. How we use it

Only to make the app work: carrying seeds between people, showing a seed's flight (breaths and days aloft), and keeping the service healthy. We do not sell your data, build advertising profiles, or send your photos to third-party AI services.

4. Storage and retention

Photos are stored privately on Amazon Web Services and served only through short-lived links. Photos are automatically deleted from storage after at most 90 days. Records of seeds and breaths may be kept longer to preserve each seed's flight.

5. Your choices

  • You can ask us to remove a photo you set adrift, or one you received that should not be on the wind, by emailing the address below.
  • Deleting the app removes it from your device; seeds already adrift continue their flight until they settle and their photos expire.
  • Camera access is only ever used while you are taking a photo, and can be revoked in iOS Settings.

6. Rules of the wind (Terms of Use)

  • Only set adrift photos you took and have the right to share.
  • No unlawful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit content, and nothing depicting minors inappropriately. We may remove content and block identifiers that break these rules.
  • You keep the rights to your photos. You grant us the limited license needed to store them and carry them to other users inside the app.
  • The service is provided as-is, free of charge, and may change or pause at any time. It is an art project.

7. Children

Dandelion is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to use it.
